Stars of ‘Bros’ Say It’s Time for a Gay Mainstream Romantic Comedy

Share

The stars of Bros, Billy Eichner and Luke MacFarlane, appeared on the Today show Tuesday to talk about what went into the first gay romantic comedy ever made by a major studio.

Asked if he felt a responsibility making a film that was an LGBT first, Eichner acknowledged that “there’s a responsibility there,” but he said his goal wasn’t to “sit down to write a historic movie.”

Eichner:

“Our goal was to just write a hilarious movie. Our goal was to get people to the theater and give them a really good time and a reason to laugh out loud with their friends. Gay comedians, like me, we haven’t had the chance to tell our stories on the big screen.”
