‘Star Trek’ Remembers Nichelle Nichols and First Look at Season 5 of ‘Discovery’

Paramount+ today unveiled a behind-the-scenes set tour of its hit original series Star Trek: Discovery, led by series cast member Wilson Cruz.

The special video, which debuted on-stage during today’s global live-streamed “Star Trek Day” celebration, gave fans an exclusive look at the filming of Discovery’s fifth season in Toronto.
Paramount+ also revealed a first look image from the new season featuring Sonequa Martin-Green.

In addition to Cruz, the behind-the-scenes video features series stars Martin-Green, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Blu del Barrio as well as series costume designer Anthony Tran.
This year’s “Star Trek Day” celebration was available for fans to live-stream worldwide for free at StarTrek.com/Day and on YouTube (Paramount+ and Star Trek Official pages).

In season five, Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncover a mystery that sends them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well… dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.

The Trek family also used the occasion to remember actress Nichelle Nichols who passed in July at the age of 89.
Martin-Green’s character of Michael Burnham is in many ways the culmination of the promise of Nichols’ career.
