“Black gay Los Angeles showed up and OUT! Thanks for the support.”

Roux’s Blues: Promise Me, You’ll Be There is a film that effortlessly infuses advocacy into the art of storytelling.

Following the journey of a millennial queer Black man (Roux), as he navigates love, life, and personal development Roux’s was written by Donnie Hue,  directed by McCormick and stars Donnie Hue Frazier III, Jamal Lewis, DeMarco Majors, and Cecil Clay.

Says Majors:

“Roux’s Blues takes a journey into hard conversations within the Black queer community. It takes on the stigma of being born with HIV, stealthing, sex positivity, sexual health that limits it resources to the Black and brown community. It’s a love story but funny as fuck. Every character is relatable.”

Promise Me You’ll Be There highlights many topics as Roux balances personal and professional life, maintains friendships, explores sexuality and deals with mishaps and misfortune… Roux says, “We get to explore relationships, support, lack of access to resources, health equity, integrity, and what life looks like in the attempt to grow.”

McCormick adds, “I’m grateful that Donnie Hue trusted me with the task of directing and bringing his words in Roux’s Blues to life. It’s full of very important messages relevant to sexual health issues affecting Black gay men, and it’s a beautiful, fun film that we need now.

McCormick’s B-Boy Blues premiered earlier on BET+ this month.
