Jeff Davis Shares First Pics from ‘Teen Wolf’ Movie & Why Dylan O’Brien Isn’t In It

Share

Jeff Davis, creator and director of MTV’s Teen Wolf series, shared images from the set in Atlanta where he’s shooting the upcoming Teen Wolf the Movie for Paramount+.

Davis wrote: “Sharing is caring on the #teenwolfthemovie set,” above a pic of Dylan Sprayberry and Tyler Posey sharing mask, as well as “The stunning Shelley Hennig.”

The new movie is part of an overall 3-project deal with Executive Producer Jeff Davis that will also include a new streaming show about werewolves.

The new show, Wolf Pack is unrelated to Teen Wolf and is instead based on a series of novels by Canadian author Edo Van Belkom.

Entertainment Weekly:

Welcome back to Beacon Hills!

Teen Wolf The Movie has officially started filming, and EW has an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the film. As fans of the series know, Teen Wolf premiered on MTV in 2011 and ran for six seasons, wrapping up its 100-episode run in 2017. The story began when Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) followed his best friend Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) into the woods one night and ended up getting attacked by a werewolf. The rest of the series then followed Scott and Stiles as they learned more about the supernatural world and as Scott figured out what it meant to be a True Alpha.

The Paramount+ film, which will bring viewers back to Beacon Hills, was then announced in September. As the film’s description reads: “In Teen Wolf The Movie, a full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of banshees, werecoyotes, hellhounds, kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a werewolf like Scott McCall, no longer a teenager yet still an alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced.”

Returning for the film are a number of familiar faces including Posey, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, Orny Adams, Linden Ashby, J.R. Bourne, Seth Gilliam, Colton Haynes, Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio, and Dylan Sprayberry. Notably missing from the cast is Dylan O’Brien, who has said he won’t be involved.

It was announced that the Teen Wolffilm was happening but you wouldn’t be joining. Is that still the case?

Yeah. It was a tough decision because I love Teen Wolf, [my character] Stiles, and so many of the people that I worked with. It was my first job ever, so that show will always tug at my heartstrings. A lot of things went into the decision. It was really hard to wrangle this. First of all, I think it all happened really fast. It came as a surprise—we did not know that this was happening, so to announce and then try to wrangle everybody for a deal and be on set all within six months is a really hard thing to do.

I think everyone was trying to figure it out, and I was, too. I was talking to Tyler [Posey, his Teen Wolf co-star] every day all throughout it, but ultimately, I felt settled and at peace with where I left that. I felt like we all came back for the series finale and that was sort of that moment. It just felt nice where it was, and I didn’t want to fuck with that. I also never want to come to something if my full heart’s not in it, especially something as precious to me as Teen Wolf. But I love all those guys and I always will, and I hope it fucking rocks.
