Britney Spears Got Engaged Following Father Filing Legal Notice Ending His Control

Britney Spears announced her engagement Sunday to her boyfriend Sam Asghari in an Instagram post displaying a diamond ring engraved with the word “lioness.”

Last Tuesday, her father James Spear made a court filing to end his 13-year conservatorship he’s maintained over the pop-star, that has allowed him to control virtually every aspect of her life.

“I can’t (expletive) believe it!” with an Instagram video post where she winks, kisses a smiling Asghari on the cheek and answers “yes!” when he asks if she likes the ring.
