Flame Monroe Defends Dave Chappelle To Don Lemon: WATCH

Trans comedian Flame Monroe vehemently defended Dave Chappelle’s controversial NETFLIX special The Closer to Don Lemon on CNN.
Monroe said that as Black, trans comedian she had many “dogs” in this fight but that she feels that the stage is a safe place for comedians and that was paramount. Monroe underscored her point by quoting Nina Simone, “How can you be an artist and not speak about the times?”
Monroe said she can hide being a comedian, hide being a woman, but never hide being Black.
