The DC Comics loving Congressman from Long Beach California was sworn in to congress Friday, becoming the first out gay immigrant representative in the House.
Robert Garcia as he promised was sworn in on the U.S. Constitution, underneath which was an original copy of Superman #1 from the Library of Congress, a photo of his parents who he lost to Covid, and his citizenship certificate.
We just got sworn-in, and for the first time in history, there’s an LGBTQ+ immigrant in the U.S. Congress.

Elected as Mayor of Long Beach in 2014, Garcia was the youngest, first openly gay, first Latino. He used his power to promote pro DC policies, such as hiding secret DC fanboy messages, in the construction of a new community center and calling for the release of the Synder Cut of Justice League.
