Season 4 of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Shifts In a Brave New Bold Direction that Feels Fresh and Fun

From the very beginning of “Kobayashi Maru” the first episode of season 4 of Star Trek: Discovery everything feels different. We’ve time jumped approximately 5 months from the end of season 3. And Captain Michael Burnham is fully in charge.

Season 4 finds Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery facing a threat unlike any they’ve ever encountered. With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all.

Starfleet is back, and we need you! Post-screening, you are invited to join the cadet class of 3189 – the newest class of the United Federation of Planets’ re-initiated Starfleet Academy. A biometric scan will evaluate your inherent skillsets and behavioral characteristics. You will receive an official ID badge that will give you access to three introductory classes in Engineering, Science and Command. Each class will be led by a seasoned and decorated veteran…with additional special guest professors. The night culminates with a live head-to-head Final Exam, that will test select cadets’ Star Trek knowledge — and a special surprise for all cadets who complete the Starfleet Academy Orientation in its entirety.

“Kobayashi Maru” finds the crew of Discovery, the newly rechristened Starfleet Academy and the new president of the Federation, as well as Book and the people of Kweijan garppling with all the issues the invoking of the famous leadership test implies.
