There’s Oscar buzz for Brendan Fraser who reportedly received a six-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival premiere of The Whale.
In the film, directed by Darren Aronofsky, he plays a six-hundred-pound gay man who has entered a severe bout of depression following the death of his partner.
According to Variety, Fraser donned a prosthetic suit to play Charlie and he told reporters at the film festival over the weekend of the challenges of the role including having to “learn how to move in a new way. I developed muscles I did not know I had.”
