Netflix Shares First Look at Gay Teen Drama ‘Heartstopper’

Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. Netflix’s just revealed our first look at its upcoming series gay teen series Heartstopper.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Alice Boseman, the coming-of-age British series stars Joe Locke as Charlie Spring, a student at a secondary school who becomes unlikely friends with Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), his rugby-loving “straight boy crush.”

From the synopsis:

Heartstopper is an eight chapter story about life, love and everything in between.

When gentle Charlie and rugby-loving Nick meet at secondary school, they quickly discover that their unlikely friendship is blossoming into an unexpected romance. Charlie, Nick and their circle of friends must navigate the ever relatable journey of self discovery and acceptance, supporting each other as they learn to find their most authentic selves.

Heartstopper debuts on Netflix on April 22.
