Lynda Carter Hosts Wonder Woman Day Luncheon at The Bass Museum

Share

Lynda Carter celebrated National Wonder Woman Day and the 80th anniversary of the iconic DC-comic book character’s creation at The Bass Museum with an unveiling of Dara Birnbaum’s film- Technology/Transformation: Wonder Woman 1978-79 – the newest edition to the museums art collection.

Following the film viewing, the special event also included an intimate luncheon sponsored by BABOR where guests sipped on Whispering Angel Rose and enjoyed an interactive conversation and interview with Carter herself, led by The Bass Museum’s Executive Director, Silvia Karman Cubiñá.

Birnbaums pioneering video features television footage from the 1970’s show Wonder Woman, starring Lynda Carter as the titular heroine. Scenes of Carter performing her iconic spin in varying landscapes (transforming from her secretarial persona of “Diana Prince” to her superhero role as “Wonder Woman”) are interspersed with explosive imagery and 70’s music. The work challenges the idea of a fixed femine identity in media, probing the multiplicities of womanhood and body politics.

Presenting sponsor, Babor, spoke on their ties to Wonder Woman’s core mission through their wonderment of beauty advancement in their products for all women of all ages and skin types. Please let us know if you would like a deluxe sample of THE BEST OF DOCTOR BABOR BOX, (valued at $400) in exchange for editorial consideration.
