Lee Daniels Apologizing To Mo’Nique was a Beautiful Thing To See

Share

Director Lee Daniels publicly apologizing to Mo’Nique for blacklisting her was a beautiful thing to see and no one could say it more poignantly than The Prophets author Robert Jones Jr. so we’ll just share.

A lot of people don’t like Mo’Nique.

They find her to be loud, overconfident, ungrateful, problematic, etc.

Admittedly, I don’t agree with every single stance Mo’Nique has ever taken. Like, for example, I don’t care if Black women go outside with their bonnets on because the white gaze is no concern of mine.

But while a lot of people were dogging/dissing/dismissing her (much of which seemed to be coming from places of ageism, anti-fatness, and misogynoir) throughout her battles with the Hollywood elite, I staunchly supported her.

Mo’Nique is a lot of things, but one thing I don’t think she is, is a liar.

And the other day, Lee Daniels publicly apologized to her for helping to get her blacklisted in Hollywood and announced that she would be starring in his upcoming big-tent film.
