How Comic Book Artist Manifested a Gay Wonder Boy Into Existence

Comic Book artist Luciano Vecchio commented on Twitter last week: “Does this count as manifesting in a way? Years ago I created this queer Wonder Boy in a world where a queer Robin or Superman was unimaginable, in a fanfic that almost got made canon but that didn’t happen. I kept making art of him for a while, with great love for the concept.”
One more time. This was the original fanfic I made back in 2017 after reading the Love Is Love anthology. As an exercise it set me on track on what I wanted to focus on as a superhero artist.
I wrote a full pitch even, hoping to develop the concept.https://t.co/oFI2MW10W3 pic.twitter.com/3r4bTjdvSE— Luciano Vecchio – NYCC Artist Alley C-04 (@LucianoVecchio) October 1, 2022
The new character is now featured in the latest issue of Multiversity: TEEN JUSTICE #5 that comes out Wednesday.
Vecchio continued: “Years later, we finally have a queer Wonder Boy in the form of Teen Justice’s TROY, thanks to @ivanmcohen @weredawgz @eloelo and the artists that came after. Channeling the archetype. Drawing him in issues 3 and 5 of TJ feels like full circle, and I love every panel with him!”
