WANDA SYKES thanks Ellen Degeneres for helping her come out. Towleroad: The Upshaws actress appeared on the talk show host’s eponymously titled talk show on Tuesday (18.05.21), where she said Ellen’s own coming out story – which saw her publicly reveal she is a lesbian back in 1997 – helped her discuss the topic with her parents.

She said: “You know how you’re just iconic and the whole community appreciates you. You took the blow, man. You were the first one to really be out, out like that and it helped so many of us. It normalised things. “It just helped with my parents having a hard time to deal with it all. And then their friends coming up to them and saying, ‘We love Ellen and we love when Wanda is on Ellen.’

COMING SOON My Adventures with Superman starring Jack Quaid is to HBO Max and Cartoon Network. Variety: “Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Clark Kent and Lois Lane in an all-new, family-friendly animated series with Jack Quaid (“The Boys”) and Alice Lee (“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”) voicing America’s most recognizable super-sweethearts. HBO Max and Cartoon Network announced a two-season series order for “My Adventures With Superman,” which follows the Man of Steel and the dogged Daily Planet reporter in their 20s, as well as their best friend Jimmy Olsen, as they begin to discover who they are and everything they can accomplish together as an investigative news team.

The serialized, coming-of-age story sees Superman build up his secret identity and embrace his role as the hero of Metropolis (and, perhaps the world), while Lois, now a star journalist, takes aspiring photographer Jimmy under her wing. All the while, Clark and Lois are falling in love, sharing adventures and taking down bad guys.

ALSO Batman the Caped Crusader coming too. Variety again: “A new Batman animated series has been ordered at HBO Max and Cartoon Network, with “Batman: The Animated Series” co-creator Bruce Timm attached as an executive producer. Batman: Caped Crusader will be executive produced by Timm along with J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves. It will be produced by Warner Bros. Animation (WBA), Bad Robot Productions, and 6th & Idaho.

“We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City,” the trio said. “The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”

BABALAN has wrapped principal photography. Aysulu Onaran is the Director of the film. She also wrote the script along with Sam Roffey. The film is produced by Adilet Yessimov with Rose Ganguzza (Fatima) serving as Executive Producer. Balaban was shot on location in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan with its dramatic mountains, canyons, and vastness of the nomadic steppe.

Balaban is inspired by true events in 2006, when one hundred and sixty infants were infected with HIV as a result of tainted blood transfusions, administered in four public hospitals in Kazakhstan. The film aims to inspire women and LGBTQI+ youth globally, raise awareness and support gay and youth rights as well as animal rights.

“It is so empowering being able to write and direct this special story that has been very important to me,” said Director Aysulu Onaran. “I am extremely proud of Balaban and incredibly blessed to be undertaking a journey that champions the destigmatizing of HIV-positive girls and sexual diversity in my home country. To date, the HIV & LGBTQ+ communities continue to face discrimination and many economic and social challenges.”

Executive Producer Rose Ganguzza continues, “Many years ago in the midst of the AIDS crisis, I became very involved in raising awareness about this disease and how it would affect the world. It was clear to me that it was something which would affect every sector of the population and be with us for a long time. I was impressed with Aysulu’s dedication to the young ‘orphans of AIDS’ in her country and this story about the need to soar above the constraints of nature and illness. Her film is lyrical and reinforces the belief that there is hope in even the greatest struggle.”
