Doritos’ Ad for Día de los Muertos Is a Beautiful Gay Love Story

Share

Doritos has a new ad in honor of the Día de los Muertos holiday (Day of the Dead) that Mexico and many Latino cultures observe that roughly correlates with Halloween. In Doritos Mexico’s new Spanish commercial, a family goes to visit their Uncle Alberto’s grave. All of a sudden, his spirit appears alongside one of a mystery man.

“Who is he,” Alberto’s family asks.

“He’s Mario, my partner,” Alberto shares, with a loving look to his love.

The younger members of his family at first share shocked glances, then Alberto’s elderly sister jumps in.

“What a miracle!” she says. “I thought he would be alone forever.”

Alberto and Mario share a loving embrace, and I’m not crying, you are.

“It’s never too late to be your true self,” the commercial concludes, alongside the hashtag “#PrideAllYear.” The ad is going viral on Twitter and TikTok.
