A Gay, Character Based, Sex Positive Comic Kickstarter To Get Excited About

Share

Sticky Graphic Novels, the premier publisher of wordless, gay character-based, sex-positive graphic novels, hit and surpassed their Kickstarter goals for their latest project in just five days since launching on June 5.

That project? Tapstuds: The Galactic Edition is an oversized 80 page adults-only graphic novel hardcover with script and art direction by Dale Lazarov and linework and colors by Dustin Craig.

Cathy Camper, Lambda Literary says of Tapstuds:

“Without the clutter of word bubbles, readers can easily view the sexy bits and use their imaginations to fill in dialog. For readers in search of sex-positive erotica, these amicable gems of sexual inventiveness, wit, and sensitivity fit the bill.”

Tapstuds is made up of three stories.

In Sexual Diplomacy: an Earth military envoy and a Elizabethan space king exchange pleasantries as part of their contractual negotiations, establishing relations through courtly manner and private ministrations — involving their privates.

Chronof*c|<1ng taps into the tale of a time stream navigating cad who enjoys men from different cultures and time periods, who  considers settling in 19th century Paris — where a sexy, bearded steampunk scientist has caught his eye.

In Love Machines we meet two automatons who must be taken to the lascivious robot repairman shop. Why did they stop working? It seems the pair aren’t getting the satisfaction they know they can achieve from their owners but know they can get from one another.

Known as “the father of American bara” and “the Stan Lee of gay,” Lazarov is the writer, art director, and licensor of Sticky Graphic Novels.

Sticky’s signature iconic storytelling is executed in wordless, gay character-based, sex-positive sequential art that are joyously sexy erotic expressions of homo male sexuality.

Since in 2006, Lazarov has collaborated on 17 hardcover Sticky Graphic Novels and 43 digital editions with distinctive and evocative gay comics artists from around the globe.

Unbeknownst to most, he is secretly mild mannered Chicago denizen and Ph.D. Aldo Alvarez.

What is the provenance of the title Tapstuds you ask? Lazarov says, “I looked for a word that both sounded like gay erotica and science fiction.”

Gscene calls it a “hot, fun and affirmative…a sensual and stimulating treat with a knowing wink and a huge, thick throbbing sense of humor.”

While Manhunt Daily says, “you’d expect [a Dale Lazarov comic] to get dirty, and it does. In the most beautiful way possible…the glorious, full-color panels here aren’t meant to accentuate a story, but tell every part of it.”

Artist Dustin Craig’s passion to create powerful homoerotic stories through his illustrations is on display here. You can see the influence of Tom of Finland, Marc DeBauch, and Patrick Fillion in his work giving the book an instant familiarity that makes the narrative flow.

Since he has amazingly hit his goal, this is a no risk investment. Lazarov says any additional funds will allow him to add two more options for a personalized bookplate — an “Ex Libris” edition with a bound in bookplate, customized to you personally.

Tapstuds ships in August but the Kickstarter only goes on for more three short weeks until July 5 and can be accessed by clicking here.
